THE NEED

Today’s tractors and combines are packed with more technology than was used to put the first spacecraft to go to the moon. While these machines essentially perform the same agricultural tasks they have been doing for the last 100 years, electronic control systems have made them more powerful, efficient and productive.

While these advances have allowed farmers to get more yield for less time, effort and expense, they also bring with them a pain point for the modern age. Some mechanical failures are easy to diagnose, as there is readily available visual evidence of what part wore out or broke. Others are less obvious and take more investigating, like when you have to tear down an engine or transmission to find out which part is causing issues. When it comes to diagnosing problems with electronically controlled systems, the issue is access to information.

For many years, diagnostic information stored in the various electronic control modules that make the machines function were only accessible to dealer technicians. This created a choke point in the repair process. During busy times of the year, often when farmers need their equipment the most, owners would have to request an on-site service call. Dealership service advisors did their best, but busy schedules meant that sometimes it would take days, weeks or even months before the equipment was diagnosed and repaired.

You can connect to more than 2000 makes and models of agricultural equipment and get access to trouble codes, live sensor data, and even the ability to perform calibrations on some systems.

The Jaltest AGV tool is a functional and easy-to-use diagnostic scanner for farm equipment. Instead of calling a dealer service advisor to schedule an appointment, simply plug the AGV interface connector into any farm machine and perform dealer-level commands from your laptop.

AGV software for laptop computers, mobile devices and tablets provides access to repair information to help guide you through recommended repair processes. This takes the guesswork out of maintaining modern ag equipment with complicated electronically controlled systems. Your subscription gives you detailed wiring diagrams and specifications for sensors and actuators to give you expert-level diagnostic and calibration capabilities.

Tier 4 and Tier 5 engines have advanced systems to control exhaust emissions. AGV allows you to initiate regeneration cycles on the diesel particulate filter (also known as a DPF regen) that keeps your exhaust and emissions systems operating at peak performance for longer component life. AGV also gives you access to the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) sensors and components, as malfunctions in these systems can stop your tractor in its tracks.

Some agricultural equipment manufacturers have responded to proposed right-to-repair legislation and now offer tools to access systems that were formerly unavailable to owners and independent repair technicians. Abilene Machine reserves the right to inspect any or all parts returned for warranty before warranty claims will be honored. In all instances, Abilene Machine's sole liability will be either replacing the defective part or a refund not to exceed the purchase price of the defective part.
